Press Release – National Organizing Committee of the 62nd Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights

Nouakchott will be hosting the 62nd Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) scheduled from April 25th to May 9th, 2018.
Main body of the African Union for the Promotion and Protection of Human and Peoples ’Rights in Africa, the Commission established in accordance with the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights holds two ordinary sessions a year, including public and private sessions that provide an opportunity for interactive exchanges on the human rights situation in Africa.
The work of 62nd session will be preceded by the meeting of NGO Forum that will be held from April 21st to 23rd 2018 and the meeting of African National Human Rights Institutions (INADH) scheduled for April 23rd and 24th 2018.
The 62nd session is being held in a context marked by our country’s remarkable commitment to regional integration and the constant improvement of civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights at the national level.
Faithful to its traditions of hospitality, openness and tolerance, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania warmly welcomes all participants in the 62nd Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and pledge to not spare any effort to ensure the full success of this important continental event.
