Mauritania to host the next session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights

Banjul, 03/11/2017 - In a statement to the 61st session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR), the Commissioner for Human Rights and Humanitarian Action Mr Cheikh Tourad Ould Abdel Malick invited the African Union (AU) responsible for the promotion and protection of human and peoples’ rights to hold the meeting of the 62nd session scheduled for April and May 2018 in Mauritania.
On this occasion, the Commissioner recalled the exemplary relations that have existed between Mauritania and the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights since its creation in 1987.
The invitation of the Mauritanian Government has been accepted by the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights whose 62nd session will be held in Nouakchott in April and May 2018.
